I am a mixed media artist from Cheshire and my jewellery reflects my interests in Artists Books, a love of paper and a fascination with repetitive processes and structures. My jewellery is usually made of unwanted books, maps and other ephemera. I use various techniques to manipulate the paper and these are often a direct response to either the subject matter of the book or the quality of the paper.
I am interested in the idea that books are often treasured yet neglected objects. The materials they are made from are humble and transient whilst the content and experience of a book can remain in our memories and enrich our lives.
I am interested in exploring these contrasting qualities of value/ non value to produce work that is portable, tactile and often very personal to the wearer.
I have exhibited my work nationally and internationally including the Museum of Art and Design in New York, USA , Mesa Arts Centre in Mesa, Arizona, the International Paper Art Biennial in Haacht, Belgium, Gioielli Alternativi. Ablimenti fair, Vicenza,Italy and at the Sunderland Glass centre Sunderland. My work has also been featured in various books and magazines.
